New film festival under motif “ecology of souls” –metaphor of sustainable encounter of countries, cultures and ethnicities. Celebration of diversity. Cultural event born in Mexico with universal vocation.

Festival was born in 2007 to show the best contemporary cinema, highlight upraising of new filmmakers, and support social development. Cancun and Riviera Maya as global melting point for international film talent.

In Mexico, it is the only film festival featuring just operas primas in official competition; International, Ibero America, and Mexico sections; maximum of ten finalists per category; and annual showcase of Ecology and Human Development Cinema.

In the international circuit, it is distinctive presenting operas primas, and pursuing three objectives –promote contemporary filmmaking, foster artistic activities, and organize ecological actions.

Cinema and culture in Cancun and the extraordinary nature of Quintana Roo State and Mayan civilization.

2007 Festival: 53 films on competition, 120 films on parallel programs. 4 film activities, 5 art/photography exhibitions, 3 concerts, 4 ecological actions, 12 special events. 70 special guests. 20 national/international journalists invited. Personalities attending from Mexico City, Madrid, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Miami and other cities. 6 screening rooms. 4 Festival spaces/malls. 3 cities. 65 contributing institution/companies. Over 3500 participants.
