Snorkeling in Puerto Morelos
Snorkeling in Puertos Morelos is very popular. The reef is so close to the shore that it forms a natural barrier for the town and keeps the waters really calm and shallow making. Stringent environmental regulations have kept this part of the reef unspoilt. Only tour operators that adhere to the guidelines are allowed to offer snorkel trips here.
Scuba Diving in Puerto Morelos
Within the Marine Park there are many great opportunies for scuba diving in Puerto Morelos. There was a ship donated by the Mexican Army which they sank in October 2008 to provide an artificial reef. The ship can now be found 30 meters deep in the ocean and is completely covered in corals, sponges and a plethora of colourful sea creatures.
Ecotourism in Puerto Morelos
Selvatica, is a must do for adventure lovers. It is an ecopark with over 330 acres of jungle offering something for everyone, from 6 to 96 year olds. You choose from a variety of adventures combining different zipline or high rope courses, mountain–biking to magical open “cenotes” (sinkholes), driving army trucks to natural caverns, snorkeling in the reef, horseback riding into the ocean among other exciting activities. Crococun
Two kilometres north of Puerto Morelos you will find Crococun. Crococun it is a great place to see the local wildlife. Venture into jungle and confront the prehistoric crocodiles, the rulers of this sacred land, and witness their unpredictable personalities. During your visit you will encounter friendly monkeys, a variety of snakes and other exciting surprises.
Children will love it here! You can get a guide to take you around and teach you all about the species. You even get to hold small crocodiles, monkeys, boas and parrots, and stroke a baby deer.
Fishing in Puerto Morelos
