25/03/2011Maroma Resort And Spa joins to WWF´s initiative participating in The Earth Hour 2011

Proudly committed staff and guest of Maroma Resort and Spa by Orient-Express are participating in the Earth Tour, where for 60 minutes, the lights will be turned off in rooms and common areas, lighting up over a thousand candles in each beautiful corner of the resort, an activity that takes places every night, based on our genuine interest for environmental preservation and conservancy

The event will begin with a meditation on the beach, where Gabriel Rangel and Teresa Buitron will be our guides and help us create awareness of the importance of that our personal actions have against the climate change, understanding the relationship with our Mother Earth, the four elements and their relationship with our life through various relaxation techniques, songs and sounds of prehispanic instruments around a bonfire.

To promote some of our environmentally and green practices and at the same time invite our guests to take part in these actions, during meditation participants would receive a handcrafted box to carry a candle. The box is made with recycled paper in Maroma with embedded seeds. The boxes could be sowed, irrigated and a nutritious plant will grow, with the strong aim towards raising awareness and to promote this important activity which is to “Recycle”.

The entire Maroma family is very proud of having participated in this project and to be part of the change.
